Helplines and Links for UK Mental Health support
I've seen a lot of Facebook posts with some incorrect details for mental health support during the Covid19 pandemic. It's often hard enough to reach out for support or advice anyway so getting to the right place for help is preferable.
So, here are some details for both crisis and less urgent help which I have checked.
Feel free to copy and repost!
For "Whatever you're going through", the Samaritans offer "confidential support for people experiencing feelings of distress or despair".
- The Samaritans line is 116 123
- It's a free call and is always open 24x7
- There are also options to contact them in other ways such as by email and a Self Help App
If you need urgent support see
- www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/nhs-services/mental-health-services/where-to-get-urgent-help-for-mental-health
- That includes not only when to call 999 or 111 but also has links to local 24x7 NHS mental health helplines and other help.
- Mind also has information on ways to help yourself cope during a crisis
- This includes calming exercises and a tool to get you through the next few hours.
